oh,
hi
hello :)
(That's me)
Thanks for taking the time to be here.
My name is Naiya, a fellow creative.

My Portfolio
Ranging from magazines to practicing makeup in my room, below you will find the archive of my work dating back to 2019.

MONTESSORI MURAL
I got hired to paint a mural at a Montessori school as part of their new gardening program. My idea was to show kids a full ecosystem, completely encapsulating them like a little bug in this world. In the mural, you can see all the roots, bugs, and animals in the garden. My inspiration came from immersion theatre and wanting to create an extension of the natural world so every part of the structure had a purpose.

APPLICATION
Nothing serious here, just some playin around.
I commonly find myself coming up with looks before I go to bed and these are the ones I tend to have the most fun with. There is no time stamp on them or planning, just whatever flows.

BRUTAL RENEWAL
BRUTAL RENEWAL was a fashion show based on humans returning to their roots of nature after being industrialized. We often forget that we are one with the earth and not all corporate.
I had two models for this show, one in the "avant garden" and the other in "brutalism." For both I had staple pieces I made and the rest was thrifted and altered.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
For Strike Magazines eighth issue, one of the spreads was "You Are What You Eat" taking food quite literally.
I was put in charge of our ice cream girl. Having the ice cream mohawk in mind the makeup was planned to be very minimal. Blue eyes and a sparkly pink lip to mimic the icing effect from the hair. I played with the placement of blush almost to seem like strawberry ice cream scoops.

SPOILED ROTTEN
Part of Strike Issue 8 "Spoiled Rotten"
The idea was to create someone rotting from the inside out. Not only this, but create "pretty" mold which even though seemed like a wild idea, quickly became overflowing with ideas as to how to bring this to fruition. My immediate thought was to play with various textures and I thought of making crotchet mold circles to crawl up her neck as if they are encapsulating her.

BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU
ISSUE ATE
Strike Magazines eighth issue was full of fun food innuendos to celebrate an issue that "Ate" ;)
For this spread think spoiled bratty kid. More of a metaphorical concept with all things sour to give the appeal that these two kids do indeed get what they want.

ART
Here you will find one of my hobbies that I like to indulge in every now and then. We have some mixed media but I mostly work with colored pencils and graphite.

WHO ARE WE?
For an art class we were asked to base 12 illustrations off a topic of our choice. Mine was a question "Who are we?" Using graphite and marker I brought this vision to life with each drawing representing a part of the human experience. There was a unique poem to each one that I wrote in the background as well.
